TRUE GRIT
(IL GRINTA)
DI JOEL E ETHAN COEN,
USA, 2010
CANDIDATO A 10 PREMI OSCAR

in the Old Wild West a fourteen (Hailee Steinfeld) wants to avenge his father's murder and hires a sheriff called The Grit (Jeff Bridges). Undertaking them follow a Texas Ranger (Matt Damon). The epic adventure is at the heart of the novel True Grit of Charles Portis of 1968 and had already inspired a 1969 film that did win an Oscar to John Wayne. The Coen brothers return to the taking and to look to the western. However, seem less politically unfair than usual. Their typical grotesque humor and a taste for blood are still only in small doses. A lord it is the uplifting tone as suggested in the first written on the screen, or a verse of the Old Testament. The two directors are in fact good and become more politically correct and have come closer to a more classic and mainstream cinema which has rightly become a favorite of the general public, turning their latest work in their most successful U.S. box office (the goal ; of $ 170 million is close). Their film is in fact a good old classic westerns and, even with the new to assign the lead role in a young girl, unfortunately marred by a wordy dialogues and music does not always equal, but enriched by an excellent rhythm, photography and a good team of actors: Matt Damon a more engaging than usual, Josh Brolin always wonderfully wicked and two players nominated for Oscars in the wrong category. The rookie Hailee Steinfeld, surprisingly, has earned a nomination for Best Supporting Actress, while the monocular and monoespressivo Jeff Bridges for the Actor.
